The Hungarian Central Statistical Office Library is located in Budapest and houses extensive collections of statistical publications alongside research materials on population and economic data. The holdings include both Hungarian and international source materials spanning different time periods.
The library and map collection was created in 1867 together with the Hungarian statistical service, to support the scientific practice of statistics. A law of 1897 made it public and gave it legal deposit rights, which supplied 50–60% of its growth; in 1929 it was confirmed as a "second national library". It lost about 10,000 volumes in the Second World War and reopened on 9 July 1945. A 1997 law declared it a national special library.
The library functions as an educational center where researchers and students gain insights into Hungarian society through detailed statistical analysis and demographic studies.

The library holds the manuscripts of major Hungarian statisticians and of the office's presidents, plus miniature books and works printed before 1867. Its Bibó István reading room, named after a former staff member, opened on 27 September 2010 with 15,000 volumes and has allowed book lending to any EU citizen since September 2013.
