Szentes–csongrádi vasúti Tisza-híd, Railway bridge over Tisza River in Szentes, Hungary.
The Szentes-Csongrád railway bridge is a steel structure that crosses the Tisza River and connects two towns on either side. The construction consists of three sections and spans approximately 500 meters in length.
An original bridge was built in 1903 but was destroyed in 1944 during the war. The current structure was completed in 1986 using modern engineering techniques.
The bridge connects two towns across the river and enables daily railway traffic between the regions. People have relied on this connection for decades to travel between eastern and western parts of the country.
The structure is an important point for train connections and is used daily, so it is best to observe the bridge from a safe location. Visitors can view it from either riverbank or from nearby paths.
The bridge was constructed using special sliding technology with Teflon-coated steel-rubber plates on the supports. This innovative technique was unusual for Hungarian bridge engineering and allows natural movement under temperature changes.
