Ancient Blast Furnace, Massa Museum, Industrial monument in Miskolc, Hungary
The Ancient Blast Furnace at Massa Museum features a preserved 18th-century iron smelting structure with original technical elements and construction details.
Built in the 1700s, this charcoal-fired blast furnace known as the Fazola smelter played an essential role in the regional metallurgical development of Hungary.
The Museum of Metallurgy exhibits the progression of iron manufacturing through artifacts, machinery, and reconstructed settings that shaped industrial practices.
The museum opens from May through October on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, with free admission during family days on the last Saturday of each month.
Two furnaces from the 10th-12th centuries remain in their original condition, accompanied by a water-wheel driven wolf hammer and traditional wind bags.
