Szeleta Cave, Archaeological cave site in Lillafüred, Hungary.

The limestone cave reaches a height of 8 meters, extends for 20 meters in length, and contains several passages including a 40-meter-wide corridor.

Initial excavations began in 1906 under Otto Herman and Ottokar Kadić, marking the first systematic cave exploration in Hungarian archaeological research.

The site gave its name to the Szeletian culture, representing a transitional period between Middle and Upper Paleolithic periods from 44,000 to 40,000 years ago.

Visitors can access the cave throughout the year by following a thirty-minute walking path from Lillafüred train station using marked pedestrian routes.

A black line on the cave wall marks the original sediment level present when researchers first started their archaeological studies at the beginning of the 20th century.
