Holy Name of Mary Church in Diósgyőr, Roman Catholic parish church in Diósgyőr, Miskolc, Hungary

The Holy Name of Mary Church in Diósgyőr is a medieval-origin Catholic parish church at Puskás Tivadar utca 1 in Miskolc, rebuilt in Baroque style. A pyramid-roofed tower with a clock on each side stands before the main facade. Buttresses support the steep-roofed nave and the narrower polygonal sanctuary, both covered by barrel vaults with lunettes.

The church is of medieval origin, with Gothic outer walls and buttresses probably from the first building. From 1564 the Reformed congregation used it, and the Catholic parish was re-founded in 1737 under its first priest, Gallovics János. It was rebuilt in Baroque style between 1743 and 1752, and Bishop Ferenc Barkóczy of Eger consecrated it in 1753, as the carved Latin plaque above the gate records.

The church bears the name of the Virgin Mary and serves as a focal point for the local parish community in Diósgyőr. Families mark important life moments here, from baptisms and weddings to funerals, which shape the rhythm of community life.

The church stands at Puskás Tivadar utca 1, its entrance facing west, away from today's city centre because the old settlement lay west of it. The nave and the narrower polygonal sanctuary are buttressed, and the tower, moved forward from the facade, carries a clock on each of its four sides.

In the churchyard stands a statue of Jesus, and on the small square beside the building is Diósgyőr's Immaculata statue of the Immaculate Conception. Inside, to the right of the entrance, is a Virgin Mary statue commissioned by László Vidinszky, the Diósgyőr cantor-teacher, after his child recovered.
