Miskolc Zoo spans across 212,000 square meters of natural woodland environment, housing 700 animals from 130 species near Bükk National Park.
The first predecessor of Miskolc Zoo was established in 1355 as a royal game park by King Louis I, while the current facility opened in 1983.
The zoo features a statue park displaying sculptures of extinct animals and includes the first statue worldwide dedicated to naturalist Gerald Durrell.
Visitors can access educational trails, observe animals from a 9-meter-high platform, and cross a 32-meter suspension bridge above the valley.
The facility integrates local wildlife from the Bükk Mountains with exotic species, allowing visitors to observe both native and foreign animals in forest settings.
