Lutheran church

The Lutheran church in Siófok is a wooden structure with strong arched forms creating an ark-like shape with extended wings. The anthropomorphic design of the building produces an unconventional architectural outline.

Architect Imre Makovecz designed the church in the 1980s during the communist era, and Pastor Márton Józsa oversaw construction under difficult conditions. The project represented a notable cultural initiative during a period that made such undertakings challenging.

The interior features Nordic wooden architectural influences and displays a sculpture of the Resurrected Christ above the altar. These artistic elements shape the space and create a distinctive character that visitors notice when entering.

The church is located on Fő utca 220 and is open daily for visitors. It attracts Lutheran tourists from Northern Europe who visit Lake Balaton during the summer months.

The parsonage contains a circular congregation room with a wooden cupola that displays the original construction table and cross. These objects document the heritage and history of the building process.
