Őcsényi Szent István király templom, Roman Catholic church in Őcsény, Hungary.
Őcsényi Szent István király templom is a Catholic church located in the center of Őcsény with modern architectural design and a prominent tower containing three bells. The interior features wall paintings and houses a notable marble altar.
Construction of the church started in 1938 with a foundation stone ceremony and the building was consecrated in November 1939 by Bishop Ferenc Virág. This period marked an important moment in the religious development of the local community.
The interior walls feature paintings created by artist Imre Ollé in 1941 that reflect traditional Hungarian religious art. These works shape the visual character of the prayer space and show devotion to Saint Stephen.
Visitors can tour the church during daytime hours and should note that Sunday services may limit access during those times. The central location in Őcsény makes it easily walkable from most parts of the village.
The marble altar in the church came from Pécs Cathedral and dates back approximately 250 years before being installed here. This piece connects the church to an older religious past and shows how sacred objects are shared between sacred spaces.
