MVM Dome, Multi-purpose sports arena in District IX, Budapest, Hungary
The MVM Dome is a multi-purpose hall in District IX of Budapest with seating for more than twenty thousand people, making it Hungary's largest indoor sports facility. The building covers roughly fifty thousand square meters and can host sporting events, concerts, and other large gatherings.
Construction of the hall started in June 2019 and was completed in time for the European Men's Handball Championship in 2022, opening in December 2021. The facility was built as part of preparations for this international tournament in Hungary.
The arena takes its name from Hungary's national energy company and hosts both major sporting events and performances by international artists. Visitors come here to watch handball matches featuring Hungarian national teams or attend concerts by touring musicians.
Wide corridors and ample parking areas make arrival and movement easier during large events, and green spaces around the building provide extra room. Access points are clearly laid out so visitor flow remains smooth even when the hall is full.
The roof weighs nearly five thousand tons and rests on forty-four specially engineered bearings, each capable of supporting a load up to five thousand kilonewtons. This technical solution allows the free span over the entire seating area without central supports.
