The site contains ancient structures within an oval-shaped enclosure, surrounded by a stone wall measuring 2.2 meters in width and 1 meter in height.

Archaeological excavations in the 1970s revealed 42 lintel graves arranged in two rows beneath the oratory, indicating structured burial practices from the 5th century.

Several decorated stone slabs feature Greek and Latin crosses with spiral designs, demonstrating the integration of Christian symbols in early Irish monasticism.

The monastic site is accessible by taking R559 east from Ballyferriter, turning right after Ballinrannig, and following the next left turn.

The site includes two pairs of circular huts arranged in figure-eight formations, connected by paved pathways and divided by internal stone walls.
