The quartzite structure of Errigal rises to 751 meters, making it the highest summit of the Derryveagh Mountains in County Donegal.
The mountain bears traces of geological transformations from 470 million years ago, when tectonic activity converted mudstone to schists and sandstone to quartzites.
Local residents refer to Errigal as part of the Seven Sisters mountain chain, which includes Muckish, Crocknalaragagh, Aghla Beg, Ardloughnabrackbaddy, Aghla More, and Mackoght.
The ascent to the summit covers 4 kilometers with 500 meters elevation gain, taking approximately two hours to complete on marked trails.
The mountain's quartzite surface creates a pink coloration during sunset, while its appearance changes substantially depending on the viewing position.
