Seomra Spraoi, Community center in Dublin, Ireland.
Seomra Spraoi was a community center housed in a three-story building near Mountjoy Square, providing meeting spaces and facilities for workshops and creative projects. It operated a vegan cafe, ran bicycle repair workshops, screened free films, and offered spaces for community gatherings.
The center began in 2004 at Ormond Quay and relocated to Mary's Abbey before settling at Belvedere Court. It closed in 2015 after eleven years of operation.
The center housed the Forgotten Zine archive with roughly 1,200 publications from Irish and international authors covering art, music, and politics. This collection drew people interested in alternative media and independent publishing.
The location was easily accessible on foot and offered free or low-cost activities like film screenings and repair classes. Open meeting spaces were available without advance booking, making it a good option for casual community gatherings.
In 2011 the center served as a planning hub for the Occupy Dame Street movement and hosted events during the International Squatters Convergence. This made it a key gathering point for grassroots activism in Dublin.
