Rathfran Priory, Dominican priory ruins in County Mayo, Ireland

The rectangular stone structure stands on the north bank of Cloonaghmore River, which flows into Killala Bay, 3.5 kilometers from Killala town.

Stephen de Exeter established the Priory of the Holy Cross in 1274, and the buildings operated until their dissolution in 1577 under King Henry VIII's orders.

The Yellow Book of Lecan from 1391-1401 refers to this location as Raith Branduibh, translating to 'Brandubh's Fort of the Sweet Bells'.

The remaining church walls display a small crucifixion panel above the west door and portions of a triple lancet window on the eastern wall.

The priory received special indulgences in 1438 for constructing a refectory and bell tower, indicating its economic importance in medieval Ireland.
