St. John's Priory, Medieval monastery and hospital near Trim, Ireland.
The stone buildings include a thirteenth-century church, a two-story structure, defensive walls with turrets, and a three-story tower near the Boyne River.
Simon Rochfort, Bishop of Meath, established the priory in 1202 for the Crutched Friars, who maintained both religious facilities and medical care services.
The monastery combined religious practices with medical care, featuring specialized rooms and facilities designed for treating ill patients throughout medieval times.
The ruins remain open to visitors throughout the year, with remaining structures showing architectural elements from both the 1200s and 1400s periods.
Following the dissolution in 1539, a soldier who acquired the property reportedly fled after his first night due to unexplained visions in the buildings.
