Nitzanei Sinai, Community settlement in Ramat Negev, Israel.
Nitzanei Sinai is a community settlement in the western Negev desert, located at 239 meters above sea level surrounded by agricultural fields and desert terrain. The small village is home to approximately 300 residents who depend primarily on farming for their livelihoods.
The settlement was established in 1986 as part of a plan to develop new communities across the Negev desert region. Since its founding, residents have focused on developing farming techniques suited to the arid climate.
Residents of Nitzanei Sinai maintain strong agricultural traditions, focusing on olive cultivation and developing farming methods adapted to desert conditions.
The settlement is accessible via Highway 40, which connects it to other communities in the region and serves as the main transportation link. Visitors should expect a small rural village with basic amenities and limited commercial facilities.
Farmers here cultivate the Barnea olive variety, an oil-producing tree that has spread to cultivation sites in Australia and New Zealand. This variety was developed specifically for conditions in the Middle East and has found success in other arid regions.
