Solomon's Pools, Ancient Roman reservoir near Bethlehem, West Bank

Three interconnected stone reservoirs stretch across the landscape, with the largest measuring 179 meters in length and 23 meters in depth.

Built during the first century BCE, these water storage facilities supplied Jerusalem through an extensive network of aqueducts during the Second Temple period.

The reservoirs demonstrate Roman engineering techniques through their trapezoidal designs and stone construction methods, which influenced water management across the region.

Visitors can access the pools from the main road connecting Bethlehem to Hebron, with guided tours available through local Palestinian authorities.

Underground springs continue to feed directly into the lower pool through ancient channels carved into the bedrock beneath the structure.
