Atlit detainee camp

The facility contains preserved wooden barracks, an original disinfection building, and watchtowers surrounded by barbed wire fences showing immigration detention conditions.

British authorities established this detention center in 1940 to imprison over 40,000 Jewish immigrants attempting to enter Palestine during the British Mandate period.

The museum exhibits document the struggles of Jewish immigrants through displays of personal artifacts, photographs, and testimonies from former detainees.

The site offers guided tours in Hebrew and English, with informational displays available in Russian, Spanish, French, and Amharic from 9:00 to 17:00 daily.

The museum features the Galina ship and a C-46 Commando aircraft, demonstrating different methods immigrants used to reach Israel during this period.
