Ilana Goor Museum

The Ilana Goor Museum occupies a three-story stone building facing the Mediterranean Sea with more than 500 artworks, sculptures, and design objects on display. Each floor opens into intimate galleries where the collection flows naturally from room to room.

The stone structure began in 1742 as a hostel for Jewish pilgrims heading to Jerusalem. It later became a soap factory and then a synagogue before being transformed into a museum.

The collection brings together modern art by international creators alongside ethnic objects from Africa and Latin America. These pieces show how artistic traditions from different parts of the world speak to each other.

The location is in Old Jaffa and easiest reached on foot since the area has narrow, cobbled streets. Plan extra time to explore the neighborhood as it has shops and cafes tucked throughout.

The building functions as both a public museum and a private home, with the artist herself living in an apartment above the galleries. This blend of residence and exhibition space creates an atmosphere where art and daily life coexist in an unusual way.
