Sulfur Quarry of Be'eri, Heritage sulfur quarry in Eshkol Regional Council, Israel.
The Sulfur Quarry of Be'eri features exposed mineral deposits and remnants of industrial mining operations within the western Negev landscape.
In 1929, a British mandate officer discovered substantial mineral sulfur deposits, leading to the establishment of Palestine Sulfur Quarries Ltd in 1930.
The site represents early industrial development in Israel, demonstrating the transformation from mining operations to agricultural resource distribution in the region.
Visitors should contact local authorities for access permissions and wear appropriate footwear when exploring the former mining areas and remaining structures.
The quarry produced 880 tons of sulfur, which shifted from military applications to agricultural exports for countries including Egypt, Turkey, and Greece.
