Ascension Church, Christian church on Mount of Olives, Jerusalem, Israel
The church rises 64 meters with its tower, featuring a cross-shaped design and a central dome depicting the Ascension of Jesus Christ.
Construction began in 1898 with Kaiser Wilhelm II's approval, and the foundation stone was laid in 1907, leading to the church's dedication in 1910.
The church includes intricate mosaics and frescoes depicting biblical themes, with a central Christ Pantocrator surrounded by representations of the four Evangelists.
Visitors can enter through Rabi'a al-Adawwiyya Street by requesting access via a keypad system at the main green gate entrance.
The Wilhelm Sauer organ maintains its original pipes, establishing this instrument as a preserved example of German craftsmanship in Jerusalem.
