The hospital opened in 1910 under the patronage of Augusta Victoria of Germany, serving as a military facility during both World Wars and later as a refugee center.
The Lutheran World Federation maintains this medical center, which provides specialized healthcare services to Palestinian communities from the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
The medical facility contains 171 beds and delivers essential treatments including dialysis sessions, radiation therapy, and specialized cancer care for regional patients.
German architect Robert Leibnitz designed this compound as the first building in Jerusalem to receive electricity through its own diesel generator system.
