Vattaparai Falls, Waterfall in Keeriparai reserve forest, Tamil Nadu, India

Vattaparai Falls lies on the Pazhayar River in the Keeriparai reserve forest near Bhoothapandi, at an elevation of 40 m. The stream runs over pebbles and small rock steps through rainforest, with ferns along the banks, and a small Kali temple stands beside the falls.

The area was designated as a reserve forest to protect local ecosystems and the region's plant and animal life. Efforts to elevate this to Wildlife Sanctuary status show growing recognition of the need to safeguard such natural spaces.

The presence of a Kali temple adjacent to the falls reflects the integration of natural landmarks into the religious practices of Tamil Nadu communities.

The falls are best visited during monsoon season from June to September when water flow is strongest. Access is via forest paths that must be walked on foot, so sturdy footwear and care on slippery surfaces are important.

The 20 km² (7.7 sq mi) stretch of Keeriparai reserve forest around the falls is proposed to become a wildlife sanctuary, and the falls sit inside an active animal corridor. The stream itself is described as pollution-free, and bathers hold that its water has medicinal effects.
