Vattaparai Falls

Vattaparai Falls is a waterfall in Keeriparai reserve forest that plunges over rocky ledges into a pool below. The water drops in stages through a dense forest setting, creating a layered cascade surrounded by thick vegetation and stone formations.

The area was designated as a reserve forest to protect local ecosystems and the region's plant and animal life. Efforts to elevate this to Wildlife Sanctuary status show growing recognition of the need to safeguard such natural spaces.

The presence of a Kali temple adjacent to the falls reflects the integration of natural landmarks into the religious practices of Tamil Nadu communities.

The falls are best visited during monsoon season from June to September when water flow is strongest. Access is via forest paths that must be walked on foot, so sturdy footwear and care on slippery surfaces are important.

The forest serves as an active wildlife corridor, allowing animals to move through the protected area and beyond. This hidden role as a connecting pathway between forest areas is just as important to nature as the waterfalls that attract visitors.
