Hathras district, Administrative district in Aligarh division, India
The Hathras district spans 1,840 square kilometers across the northern region of Uttar Pradesh, containing four administrative subdivisions called tehsils.
Established in 1997 by merging territories from Aligarh, Mathura, and Agra districts, the region was initially named Mahamaya Nagar until 2012.
The population communicates primarily in Hindi and the regional Braj dialect, maintaining traditional festivals and social gatherings throughout the district.
Four railway stations serve the district transportation needs: Hathras Junction, Hathras Road, Hathras City, and Hathras Kila, connecting residents to major cities.
The district maintains a population density of 850 inhabitants per square kilometer, with a literacy rate of 71.6 percent recorded in the 2011 census.
