Dombivli is a suburban city in Kalyan-Dombivli in the Indian state of Maharashtra, stretching along the Ulhas River. The city divides into densely built residential neighborhoods and an industrial zone to the east with factories and warehouses.
A stone inscription from 1075 by Harpal Dev is the earliest known reference to this place. Another document confirms the existence of the settlement in 1396.
The name comes from Domba, a traditional laundry occupation once practiced in this region. Today people from many parts of India live here side by side and celebrate their own festivals in temples and community halls.
The railway station connects the city daily with Mumbai and other destinations in Maharashtra. Trains run regularly during morning and evening rush hours.
