Manesar, Industrial township in Gurugram district, India.
Manesar is an industrial township in Gurugram district, Haryana, located roughly 30 kilometers (19 miles) southwest of Delhi. The area combines numerous villages with newer manufacturing zones and housing developments for workers from different parts of the country.
The area began its development as a planned industrial site in 1994 when the Haryana State Industrial Corporation acquired land for factories. Car manufacturers and other large companies moved in during the following years, fundamentally changing the landscape.
Local celebrations throughout the year display traditional Indian customs while incorporating modern elements from the diverse workforce population.
The main roads run north to south, connecting the township with highways toward Delhi and Jaipur. Trips within the area usually rely on auto-rickshaws or local buses, while private vehicles are common for longer distances.
The Heritage Transport Museum about five kilometers away displays historic vehicles and models from different eras of Indian transport history. The collection includes carriages, early cars, and replicas of traditional travel methods from rural regions.
