Amethi Lok Sabha constituency, Parliamentary constituency in Uttar Pradesh, India
Amethi Lok Sabha constituency is a parliamentary seat in Uttar Pradesh that covers five assembly areas: Tiloi, Salon, Jagdishpur, Gauriganj, and Amethi itself. These regions form a large zone in the northern part of the state, bringing together both rural villages and urban settlements.
The constituency was created in 1967 and gained political attention when Sanjay Gandhi won the election in 1980. Later, his brother Rajiv Gandhi also represented this territory in parliament.
Elections in Amethi demonstrate traditional Indian democratic practices, with candidates participating in local gatherings and engaging directly with agricultural communities.
The territory has numerous polling stations that spread across multiple districts during elections. Registration and access to voting follow standard Indian electoral procedures, which require voter identity cards and proof of residence.
The Indian National Congress won fourteen out of eighteen elections held here since the constituency's formation. This makes the territory one of the most politically consistent seats in the entire country.
