Kenilworth Fort, British colonial fortification in Hosur, Tamil Nadu, India
The stone structure features towers, walls, and architectural elements that closely mirror the design of traditional English castles in the nineteenth century.
The British government purchased this fort in 1875, which Salem collector Mr. Brett had built between 1859 and 1862 at his wife's request.
The fort represents the architectural exchange between British and Indian building traditions during the colonial period in Tamil Nadu.
Visitors can reach the fort by taking a local bus or taxi from Hosur town, with the site remaining open throughout daylight hours.
This fortress stands as the sole Indian fortification deliberately constructed to replicate the appearance of an English castle, specifically Kenilworth Castle.
