Balaji Mandir, Hindu temple in Narayanpur, India.
Balaji Mandir is a Hindu temple in Narayanpur, Maharashtra, with a central sanctum housing a black stone idol of Lord Venkateswara. Smaller shrines dedicated to other deities surround the main structure, forming a complete temple complex.
The temple was built in 1998 by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams, the organization that manages the original shrine in Andhra Pradesh. The goal was to give devotees in Maharashtra a dedicated place to worship Lord Venkateswara without traveling far.
The walls inside carry painted scenes from Hindu mythology, showing stories about gods and heroes that help visitors follow the meaning of the rituals. Walking through the rooms, you can read these images like a visual story told from one wall to the next.
The temple is open every day and offers free meals and accommodation to visitors who wish to stay. Those arriving by car will find ample parking on site.
The temple was built as an exact copy of the Tirumala temple in Andhra Pradesh, following the same architectural proportions as the original. This makes it one of the very few places outside South India where pilgrims can have a comparable experience.
