The Church of St. Francis of Assisi features octagonal towers on its facade, with a central niche containing a statue of St. Michael.
Portuguese Franciscan friars established the initial chapel in 1517, which underwent modifications until the current structure was completed in 1661.
The interior displays painted panels depicting scenes from St. Francis's life, along with gilded decorations and statues of the Four Evangelists.
The church stands approximately 10 kilometers east of Panaji, with an adjacent convent that functions as an archaeological museum.
The structure combines a Tuscan exterior architectural style with intricate Baroque interior elements, featuring rib-vaulted crossings and barrel-vaulted central nave.
