Dhaneswar Khera Buddha image inscription

The Dhaneswar Khera Buddha image is an ancient bronze statue mounted on a stone pedestal inscribed with Sanskrit text, displaying the artistic conventions of its era. The pedestal carries carved inscriptions that preserve information about the original dedication of the work.

The inscription records the dedication of the bronze statue by Mahadevi, the wife of Hariraja from the Gupta dynasty, during the 5th century. This era marked a time of strong royal support for Buddhist art and religious monuments.
