Om Banna, Hindu temple in Pali district, India
Om Banna is a roadside shrine in Pali district, Rajasthan, centered around a Royal Enfield Bullet 350 motorcycle. The vehicle stands behind glass in a small open pavilion, surrounded by photographs and flower garlands brought by visitors.
Om Singh Rathore died in a motorcycle crash at this spot on the Pali-Jodhpur road in 1988. Residents from the surrounding area built a memorial after his death, which grew into a widely visited site.
Travelers and truck drivers ask for safe passage here and tie red threads to the machine while lighting incense sticks. These gestures follow the belief that protection from the departed accompanies them on all roads.
The shrine sits directly on the main road between Pali and Jodhpur, roughly at kilometer 20 from Pali, and is easily visible from both directions. A paved area in front allows for stopping and stepping out.
A flame burns here continuously, and accounts say that police towed the motorcycle away multiple times, but it returned to the crash site each time. This repeated event led to the veneration of the vehicle as a source of divine protection.
