Sahastra Bahu Temples

Sahastra Bahu Temples is a complex of two main structures built on a shared platform in Nagda, adorned with intricate carved details. The buildings are surrounded by several smaller shrines that form part of the overall design.

King Mahipala of the Kachchhwaha Dynasty built these temples during the 10th century. The site later suffered damage when Delhi emperor Iltutmish destroyed Nagda in 1226.

The complex demonstrates how different family relationships are honored through separate shrines dedicated to different deities. You can observe how the layout reflects these personal connections in the design.

The temples are open to visitors daily during set hours and do not charge admission fees. You should check the exact times before visiting, as they may vary by season.

The larger structure contains ten smaller shrines while the smaller one holds four. This difference in numbers reflects the distinct spiritual importance of each temple.
