Sajjangarh Biological Park, Zoological garden in Udaipur, India
Sajjangarh Biological Park is a facility covering several dozen hectares at the base of Monsoon Palace, home to around 60 animals from more than 20 different species including tigers and lions. The park was created as a modern replacement for an older zoo and provides ample space for the animal enclosures.
The facility began construction in 2004 with support from a Japanese development agency and was designed to replace an older zoo location. This new facility gave the city a more modern setting for animal care and conservation work.
The facility serves as a place where visitors learn about regional wildlife conservation through observation of animals in their enclosures. Education about native species forms a central part of the experience.
The park is open throughout the day and allows visitors to explore the enclosures at their own pace. The best time to visit is early in the morning when animals are more active and crowds are lighter.
The park developed an Augmented Reality application that lets visitors interact with digital content about the animals through their mobile devices. This is one of the few such installations at zoo locations in India.
