The park was founded in 1881 by Maharana Sajjan Singh and was initially called Sajjan Niwas Garden. Its name later changed to Gulab Bagh, the designation it carries today.
The Saraswati Bhawan Library holds ancient manuscripts and objects that tell stories of Rajasthani heritage and literature. Visitors can explore how these collections reflect the learning and artistic traditions of the region.
