Peterhoff, Shimla, Colonial government palace in Shimla, India.
The Peterhoff building displays Gothic architectural elements with sloping roofs, wide balconies, high ceilings, and decorative woodwork throughout the structure.
During the British Raj, Peterhoff served as the residence of several Viceroys until 1947, marking its status as a central point of colonial administration.
The structure maintains its connection to governance as it now functions as a state guesthouse, hosting diplomatic meetings and government conferences throughout the year.
The building stands at an elevation of 2,200 meters, with guided tours available from Monday through Saturday between 10:00 AM and 4:00 PM.
Following a complete reconstruction in 1991, the new Peterhoff incorporates exact architectural details from the original 19th-century building that burned down.
