Swargarohini, Mountain peak in Garhwal Himalaya, India
Swargarohini is a mountain peak in the Bandarpunch range of the Garhwal Himalaya, standing at 6252 meters high. The mountain has two distinct summits, with the western point rising higher than its eastern counterpart.
The first successful climb occurred in 1974 when a joint team of mountaineers from England, Canada, and India reached the western summit. This international expedition marked an important moment in the climbing history of the Garhwal region.
The mountain holds sacred meaning in Hindu tradition, linked to ancient tales of the Pandavas' final journey. Pilgrims and climbers view it as a spiritually significant place where mythology and the physical world meet.
Expeditions typically start from Badrinath and pass through Man-Lakshmiban and Chakratirth before reaching the base camp location. Strong physical fitness and experience with high-altitude climbing are necessary, as conditions on the mountain are demanding.
The north face plummets over 2000 meters within a short horizontal distance, creating one of the steepest drops in the entire region. This dramatic slope makes the north side particularly hazardous and technically challenging for climbers.
