Govind Pashu Vihar Wildlife Sanctuary

The Govind Pashu Vihar Sanctuary extends across 958 square kilometers of land, featuring environments ranging from dense forests to high-altitude meadows.

The sanctuary, established in 1995, received its name from Govind Ballabh Pant, who served as India's Home Minister and supported Hindi as an official language.

Local communities near the sanctuary maintain traditional knowledge of medicinal plants, contributing to the preservation of Ayurvedic practices in the region.

Visitors can access the sanctuary through Naitwar entrance, with the optimal periods for exploration occurring between March to June and September to November.

The sanctuary houses fifteen mammal species and 150 bird species, including snow leopards and monal pheasants, within its elevation range of 1,300 to 6,323 meters.
