Utkanteshwar Mahadev

Utkanteshwar Mahadev is a Hindu temple located near Fuljina Muvada along the Vatrak River on the road connecting Gandhinagar and Kapadvanj. The complex contains 25 small Shiva shrines arranged throughout the grounds, with a stairway of 108 steps descending toward the riverside.

The temple houses a Shivlinga that is believed to be 2000 years old, rooted in an ashram dedicated to sage Jabali Rishi. This holy figure performed religious practices at the site to honor Lord Shiva, establishing the spiritual foundation that remains today.

The temple draws pilgrims especially during Shravan month and Maha Shivratri, when people gather to light incense and make offerings at the numerous small shrines. The site serves as a place where devotees perform personal prayers and connect with their faith through daily rituals.

The temple opens daily and remains accessible throughout the day, allowing visitors to arrive at their convenience. The steep stairway leading down to the river requires careful footing, so wear sturdy shoes and take your time descending.

The Shivlinga here has an unusual spherical shape, beneath which lies a hidden underground system. Offerings of water and milk poured here flow secretly beneath the ground to merge with the Vatrak River, adding an element of mystery to the site.
