Huligina Maradi Temple

Huligina Maradi Temple stands atop Huligadri hill near Terakanambi and displays the architectural style typical of South Indian temples with carved stone elements. The sanctuary contains three sacred water ponds: Dhanushkoti, Vedapushkarani, and Viraja, which serve ceremonial purposes.

The temple traces its origins to ancient texts that document different names for the site across successive ages. Over time, the sanctuary was known as Seshadri, Kanakadri, Venkatadri, and Vyagradri, reflecting how the place evolved through different historical periods.

The temple sits approximately 80 kilometers from Mysore and is accessible by road, though local guidance helps with navigation to the hilltop location. Visit early in the morning when crowds are lighter and temperatures are more comfortable for the climb.

Local tradition holds that the saint Mandavya Rishi witnessed a divine transformation at this spot when Lord Narayana became a stone statue. This legendary event made the place a particularly sacred pilgrimage destination for many believers.
