Aravalli district

Aravalli district is an administrative division in Gujarat that consists of six administrative subdivisions, each with its own local government presence. The region is predominantly rural, with communities engaged in farming and traditional crafts as their primary occupations.

The district was separated from Sabarkantha district in 2013 and established as its own administrative unit with Modasa as its seat of government. This division came about due to growing administrative needs of the expanding rural communities in the area.

The tribal communities here speak their own languages alongside Gujarati, and you can see their traditional crafts and farming methods throughout the villages. These practices remain part of daily life as families continue their ancestral skills in weaving, pottery, and agriculture.

The best time to visit is during the dry season when village roads are easier to navigate and agricultural activities are less intensive. Basic transportation and accommodation options are available in main towns like Modasa.

The region operates a renewable energy installation that powers multiple villages and has created local employment opportunities. This project demonstrates efforts to improve infrastructure in rural areas.
