Hatkanangle Lok Sabha constituency, Parliamentary constituency in Maharashtra, India.
Hatkanangle is a parliamentary constituency in Maharashtra that covers territory from Sangli and Kolhapur districts. It comprises six assembly segments named Shahuwadi, Hatkanangle, Ichalkaranji, Shirol, Islampur, and Shirala.
The constituency came into being in 1952 when India's electoral divisions were first established. It was dissolved in 1976 but reinstated in 2008 after the Delimitation Commission redrew electoral boundaries.
The constituency brings together urban and rural communities in western Maharashtra, shaped by farming and manufacturing traditions. Local residents maintain strong ties to agriculture and small industries that define the region's character.
The area spreads across two districts with varying landscapes, from farmland to smaller industrial towns. The six segments that make up the constituency each have different characteristics and geographic features.
The constituency is known for exceptionally close election results, where winners and runners-up are separated by narrow vote margins. These tight contests reflect strong political competition and a divided voter base across the area.
