Mulavukad Grama Panchayat, Rural administrative body in Ernakulam district, India
Mulavukad Grama Panchayat spans across an island near Kochi city, bordered by Kadamakkudy and Njarakkal Panchayaths to the north and Kochi Corporation to the south.
The construction of Bolgatty Palace in 1774 by Dutch settlers established a lasting colonial presence in the southern part of Mulavukad island.
The panchayat maintains several libraries and cultural centers, including Samskarika Nilayam Gramina Vayanasala and Abraham Madamakkal Memorial Library, serving the local population.
The panchayat divides into 16 wards, with elected representatives managing local affairs under the leadership of a president and vice president.
The establishment of Cochin Port transformed the employment landscape, providing permanent jobs to 80 percent of the local population previously dependent on coir manufacturing.
