Vypin lighthouse, Maritime lighthouse in Puthuvype, Kerala, India
The octagonal tower rises 46 meters high, displaying white and red horizontal bands visible from the Arabian Sea coastline.
The original structure began as an oil lamp in Fort Kochi in 1839, while the current lighthouse at Puthuvype started operating in 1979.
The lighthouse stands as a symbol of Kerala's maritime heritage, connecting the region's ancient trading routes with modern navigation requirements.
Visitors can access the tower through a high-speed elevator, reaching an observation deck that provides views extending 28 nautical miles across the sea.
The lighthouse emits a specific pattern of four white flashes every twenty seconds, guiding ships along the Kerala coast.
