Pazhanchira Devi Temple, Hindu temple in Ambalathara, Kerala, India

Pazhanchira Devi Temple sits between Ambalathara and Paravankunnu with carved stonework showing different forms of deities throughout the complex. The site includes a sacred Sarpa Kavu forest and separate shrines dedicated to Ganesha, Nagaraja, and other gods.

The temple was founded around 700 years ago when a Siddha yogi established the sanctuary after a divine vision from the goddess Devi. The site has maintained its spiritual role and connection to sacred forests ever since.

The temple comes alive during Navaratri celebrations with ceremonies honoring young girls and community rituals that draw visitors from across the region.

The temple is accessible by local buses from the Kovalam route, with Thampanoor Railway Station about four kilometers away. The grounds are easiest to explore in dry weather, and visitors should wear flat shoes for walking through the forested areas.

The sanctuary houses multiple deities alongside the main goddess, including Nagaraja, Ganesha, and forms like Chamunda and Brahmarakshas. This arrangement of several gods within one site reflects an interesting aspect of local devotional practice.
