Anekadhangavadeswarar Temple

Anekadhangavadeswarar Temple is a Hindu shrine in Kanchipuram featuring stone towers and intricate carved reliefs across its walls. The complex displays typical South Indian design with stone columns, continuous carved narratives, and several connected areas dedicated to different deities.

The temple was established in medieval times and appears in the Tevaram hymns composed by Tamil saints in the 7th century. This early mention shows the shrine was already known as an important pilgrimage site more than 1300 years ago.

Devotees gather here daily to participate in worship, offering flowers and incense as part of their spiritual practice. The temple's rituals follow ancient guidelines that have remained largely unchanged through the centuries.

Visitors should remove their shoes before entering and come during the morning and evening worship times. The temple extends its hours on festival days, so it is helpful to check opening times in advance.

Unlike other Shiva temples in Kanchipuram, this shrine has no separate chamber for the goddess Parvathi. Instead, her worship is directed to the nearby Kamakshi Temple, making this arrangement unusual among local temples.
