Puttabong Tea Estate spans 436 hectares across five divisions, with tea plants growing at elevations from 600 to 2200 meters above sea level.
Dr. Campbell established this first commercial tea plantation in the Darjeeling hills during 1852, marking the beginning of tea cultivation in the region.
The estate name translates to 'house of green leaves' and represents a center of tea production employing 1600 workers from local communities.
The estate produces first flush, second flush, autumn flush black teas, and green teas, with tours available for visitors throughout the year.
In 1992, Puttabong tea set a world record when its Antique Tea sold for 10,001 rupees per kilogram.
