Kanaka Bridge, Road bridge in Dzongu, Sikkim, India
Kanaka Bridge is a steel and concrete arch structure spanning across a deep valley in North Sikkim, designed to carry road traffic between isolated settlements. The structure features two traffic lanes that were engineered to handle the challenging mountainous terrain.
The bridge was constructed as a major infrastructure project to improve road connectivity to this remote mountainous region of North Sikkim. The completion of this structure marked an important milestone in connecting previously isolated settlements.
The bridge connects thirteen villages in the region, with the village of Kiem at one end leading to the traditional Lingdem Hotspring.
