The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts, Luxury hotel chain in Shahdara CBD, India
The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts operates a hotel group across several Indian cities, combining modern construction with regional design elements such as carved wooden panels, interior courtyards, and decorative stonework. Each property contains multiple restaurants, spacious reception halls, and separate areas for events and relaxation.
C. P. Krishnan Nair founded the hotel chain in 1986 with the first property in Mumbai after spending decades in the Indian textile industry. Additional locations opened in the following decades across Delhi, Bangalore, Goa, and other major cities.
Lobby areas often display handwoven textiles and murals made by local artisans in partnership with each property, reflecting the craft traditions of that region. Guests encounter daily rituals such as welcome garlands or morning incense lighting, gestures rooted in centuries-old Indian hospitality customs.
Rooms offer internet access, air conditioning, and sometimes balconies overlooking the city, while shared facilities like pool areas and dining halls are typically open without prior booking. Reception staff speak English and several regional Indian languages, making communication easier for travelers from different parts of the country.
The group developed a signature scent called Tishya, inspired by Indian blossoms, which is used as a room fragrance across all properties. This scent serves as a recognizable feature when entering lobbies and corridors, regardless of the location of each property.
