Zanjan

Zanjan is a major city in Iran's central region and serves as the capital of the province bearing its name. The city occupies a valley surrounded by mountains and contains a mix of historic neighborhoods, bazaars, and residential areas.

Zanjan developed over centuries as an important trading and craft center along historic caravan routes. The city expanded during the Safavid period and maintained its economic role through craftsmanship and regional commerce.

The city center is easy to explore on foot, with main bazaars and attractions concentrated in a relatively compact area. The best time to walk around is early morning or late afternoon when temperatures are more comfortable and streets feel less crowded.
