Knarrarós Lighthouse, Historic lighthouse in Sveitarfélagið Árborg, Iceland
The lighthouse stands 22 meters tall with a square white tower structure, black vertical windows, and a lantern that emits flashes every thirty seconds.
Constructed between 1938 and 1939, this lighthouse marked a significant advancement as the first reinforced concrete lighthouse built in Iceland.
The structure incorporates architectural elements from engineer Axel Sveinsson and state architect Guðjón Samúelsson, reflecting both functionalism and Art Nouveau influences.
The lighthouse remains active with a focal height of 30 meters and provides navigation guidance within a range of 16 nautical miles along the southern coast.
Located 5 kilometers from Stokkseyri town, the lighthouse features a two-stage square design with distinct black vertical panels between its windows.
